Passionate, Dedicated Volunteer Recruiter Receives Honors
Marlton, NJ – Volunteer Recruiter & Youth Coordinator, Sharon Wenner, of Mt. Laurel, received Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice's quarterly award for service excellence.
Samaritan created the Dove Award in 2009 to recognize employees who exemplify at least one of the organization’s five pillars of excellence - people, service, quality, finance and growth.
“Sharon’s unwavering dedication inspires all of us. Patient and family safety was a major concern during Hurricane Irene. Sharon quickly jumped into action and assembled a team of volunteers to come to our administrative office and place check-in calls to each family. She coordinated and completed this effort within the same day! It’s this quick call to action that helps Samaritan provide Service Excellence to all we serve,” said Mary Ann Boccolini, President & CEO.
Wenner couples infectious enthusiasm for creativity and steadfast dedication to Samaritan’s mission to coordinate SamariTeens, Samaritan’s teen volunteer program, recruit volunteers throughout Samaritan’s 2,200 square mile service area and provide community education to church, veteran and library groups about the benefits of volunteering.
In the 2 years Wenner has served as Youth Coordinator, she has expanded the teen volunteer program from 10 teens to upwards of 45. With Wenner at the helm, the teens have created hundreds of mementoes like stress balls, friendship bracelets and picture frames to give to bereaved children. Each memento is adorned with an inspirational message to let the children know someone cares about them as they cope with their loss. Wenner also orchestrated over 150 adult and teen volunteers to help prepare, assemble and deliver 130 Thanksgiving baskets to Samaritan patients and families.
