Marlton, NJ – At its annual meeting, the Samaritan Hospice Board of Trustees approved the nominations of the not-for-profit organization’s new board officers and welcomed three new members.

Carl Buehler of Marlton was confirmed as board chairman after serving on Samaritan Hospice’s Board of Trustees for eight years. Buehler is vice president and partner at LRP&P Graphics in Cherry Hill. His strong advocacy for Samaritan’s philosophy of care will benefit the community greatly as the organization looks to provide an improved quality of life for more South Jersey patients and families in the coming years.

Liz Thomas of Moorestown will serve as vice-chairman. She is co-founder and CEO of Thomas/Boyd Communications in Moorestown. Thomas was named as one of New Jersey’s “Best 50 Women in Business,” by NJBIZ magazine and a “Person to Watch,” by SJ Magazine.  She was recently appointed to the Steering Committee for the 2011 New Jersey Governor’s Conference for Women.

Michael Bozek of Bellmawr was re-elected as treasurer. He is senior accounting manager for Oki Data Americas, Inc. In addition to serving on the Board of Trustees, Bozek is also a member of Samaritan’s golf committee. For the past nine years he has helped to plan the organization’s annual tournament.

Cliff Mancine of Mount Laurel was re-appointed for a second-term as secretary. He is the owner of Mancine Optical in Delran and has been a member of the Samaritan Hospice Board of Trustees since 2004. Mancine is co-chair of the organization’s golf tournament committee and also chair of the development committee.

Three new members were also approved to join Samaritan’s Board of Trustees.

The board welcomed back Roy Fazio of Medford. Fazio is partner/executive vice president of Protocall in Cherry Hill. He has been an integral part of Samaritan’s history from the beginning, as his signature is on the not-for-profit organization’s incorporation papers. Fazio also co-chairs the annual golf tournament, scheduled this year for Monday, June 27.

Christopher Chekouras of Shamong and Alexander Hatala of Haddon Township also joined the board.

Chekouras serves as vice president and chief operating officer for Virtua Berlin Hospital, Virtua Camden and Virtua’s Ambulatory and Post Acute Services. His responsibilities include oversight of all clinical and non-clinical services. His experience will be invaluable as he serves on the Strategic Planning and Marketing committees.

As President and CEO of Our Lady of Lourdes Health System, Hatala is responsible for all aspects of the system and its affiliates. He is a member of the Board of New Jersey Hospital Association and is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
