Assisted Living Facilities and Nursing Homes
These days, it has become much more common for families to be stretched over many counties, states and even time zones. In other family situations, a long-term care facility may be the most appropriate setting for a patient to receive the care and support they need. These and other factors may weigh in to make hospice care in a home less than feasible. However, Samaritan will bring care to wherever a person lives and that includes assisted living facilities and nursing homes.
Our hospice team works closely with the facility's medical director and staff to:
- Relieve patient pain and other distressing symptoms
- Provide experts in hospice and palliative medicine
- Supplement the facility's care and support
- Encourage communication between the facility and the family
- Offer volunteer companionship
This extra level of care offers comfort to the patient and peace of mind to his/her family and friends. Just knowing that there is someone to call at any hour of the day, any day of the week - from anywhere in the world - is most reassuring.
