COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This workshop will focus on the privilege of relating to the seriously ill patient and family and the various systems involved in the care of the patient. Special attention will be devoted to compassion and the sacred ground in which the compassionate relationship takes place.
OBJECTIVES:
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to articulate the sacred ground of the ministry of compassionate relating; have a better understanding
of what it means to relate with compassion; and how to integrate the processes of presence and compassionate
relating into helping patients and families find new hope.

Compassion Fatigue: Caring for the Caregiver (P231-10/11-14 • 1.0 Contact Hour)

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This workshop is designed to provide insight into compassion fatigue, its sources, its effects on physical and emotional health and strategies for coping.
OBJECTIVES:
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to define stress, cumulative stress, compassion fatigue, burn out, vicarious traumatization and spirituality; identify the top four stressors, the physical effects of stress and personal/ professional warning signs of compassion fatigue and five strategies to increase self-care. The program will explore with participants professional expectations and institutional barriers.
