2nd Annual Car Gathering Will Honor Car Enthusiast, Benefit Samaritan Hospice Created by hospice on 4/12/2011 9:07:12 AM
Smithville, NJ – The 2nd Annual Ted Ley Memorial British Car Gathering benefiting Samaritan Hospice will take place on Saturday, April 16 (rain date April 23), at 10 a.m. among the shoppes and eateries of Historic Smithville (for directions, use the address 1 North New York Road, Smithville). Last year, the event exceeded expectations and raised over $500 for Samaritan Hospice patients and families.
Ted Ley was a long time member of the British Motor Club of Southern New Jersey and the Delaware Valley Jaguar Club. Before passing away in February 2010, he was cared for in his home by family and the staff of Samaritan Hospice. His wife Joan and dog Trader have volunteered for the not-for-profit organization for over a year, offering pet therapy to Samaritan patients. During his illness, roles were reversed and they were on the receiving end of the care provided.
The $5 fee for British cars in attendance will support the patients and families of Samaritan Hospice receiving care at the end-of-life wherever they call home, whether that be in a house, assisted living facility or nursing home.
